Patrick's seagoing career began in 1981 when he joined the RNZN and continued through to 2006 when he founded Marine Management Ltd. During his time at sea he served on various steam and diesel powered ships, ranging from various RNZN vessels, to product tankers, bulk carriers and superyachts. Patrick attained the position of chief engineer with Class 1 Foreign Going Motor Certification and served as the technical manager for one of the world's largest superyachts.

His strong experience includes both commercial and government shipping projects, and he's known for his ability to guide projects to successful completion any where in the world. Those successful projects include new build, survey, repair and ship modification projects in ports and shipyards throughout the world including: Blohm +Voss, Seattle, Mi-ami, Cartagena, Turkey, Singapore, Henderson WA and Auckland.
